Over the years, RDH Creative has worked on a range of design and illustration projects in collaboration with Realm Cellars.
This label design was developed for a unique moment in the winemaking journey — the barrel tasting. It’s a stage where the wine is still maturing, still becoming. We wanted the label to reflect that spirit of transition. What began as a sketch of a butterfly evolved into something more symbolic — not just the creature, but its path. The motion between what was and what’s to come. Like a single brushstroke hinting at the masterpiece it's becoming, the label captures a fleeting but powerful moment of change.
These hand-drawn illustrations were created during the groundbreaking phase of Realm’s newly acquired estate in Napa, California. They tell the story of the process, document the evolving landscape, and narrate the region’s rich local history.
The image below was designed for Realm’s Practical Dreamer ethos. The Penrose triangle conveys dreamlike thinking, unconventional solutions, and visionary creativity. The location pin brings it back to Earth—anchoring those lofty ideas in a real-world application.
